TIC is seeking an Electrician Apprentice.

This position will assist electrician in the planning, lay-out, installation, testing and repair of wiring,electrical fixtures, apparatus, motors, equipment and control systems in accordance with all applicableplans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training andskills as requested by project supervision.

Essential Functions:

1. Develop effective verbal and written communication skills. Add, subtract, multiply and divide wholenumbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.

2. Assist electrician in laying out work. Learn to perform lay-out independently.

3. Learn to read and understand plans and specifications, including one-line diagrams, cable andconduit schedules, ladder diagrams, and loop diagrams. Visualize two-dimensional drawings in threedimensions. Must be able to differentiate colors of wires.

4. With regard to that portion of the work assigned, develop an understanding of contract plans andspecifications; and plan, lay-out, installation and/or repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus andcontrol equipment in accordance with those plans and specifications.

5. Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measuresthat arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.

6. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points beingmade, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

7. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions,conclusions or approaches to problems.

8. Learn to observe functioning of installed equipment or systems and learn to determine hazards andneed for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.

9. Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds or more.

10. Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion andflexibility.

11. Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and otheroutside conditions.

12. Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.

13. Learn to use appropriate hand (i. e. drill, screwdriver) and power tools (i. e. pipe threader, conduitbender) to properly assist electrician in performing his/her duties, including, but not limited to,measuring, cutting, and bending wire and conduit; drill holes for wiring; pull wiring through opening;assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects, such as wiring, conduit, and motors; performminor repairs, such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches; maintain tools andequipment and keep supplies and parts in order; disassemble, repair and reassemble defectiveelectrical equipment, such as motors; load, transport, unload, and furnish electrician with materials,tools, equipment, and supplies; clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary;erect scaffolding; assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces duringinstallation; and install all other related items in accordance with the applicable plans andspecifications; perform other routine duties as directed by experienced craft worker.

14. Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary correctiveaction to eliminate or minimize hazards.

15. Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (i. e. back-upalarms, smell of smoke, different colored warning tags, warning sirens).

16. Understand and implement lockout/tagout procedures in a safe manner.

17. Produce quality work, meeting requirements of NEC, plans, specifications and industry standards.

18. Be motivated and work productively.

19. Perform all other job related duties as requested by supervisor.

20. Perform all other actions necessary to accomplish the foregoing essential job functions.

21. Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers on the job.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:Education, Experience or Formal Training:

Learn and develop basic knowledge of electricity. Ability to understand and follow directions in addition, must have all necessary tools (see Electrician Helper tool list).

Working Environment:

Ability to work in conditions common to a construction site including but not limited to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, sun, cold, noise.

Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds.

Climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.

Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Possess full range of motionand flexibility.

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop,kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
